This policy explains what buyaigear collects, why, and what you can do about it. It is written to describe exactly what the site does; when the site changes, this page changes with it.
The short version
- We do not sell personal information and we run no advertising trackers. The one third-party script is Google Analytics, set up without advertising features, and it does not load when your browser sends the Global Privacy Control signal.
- Visits are logged with a keyed, truncated hash of your IP address, not the address itself.
- We only know your email address if you create an account for price alerts.
- When you click a vendor link, the vendor and its affiliate network learn that you came from us and set their own cookies.
1. Who is responsible
The service at https://buyaigear.com is operated by PDX Options LLC, 11918 SE Division St #1059, Portland, OR 97266. Questions and requests about your data go to support@buyaigear.com.
2. What we collect
Visits
For each page view our server records the page path, the time, the page that linked to it (the referrer), a coarse browser type (browser, crawler or AI agent, derived from the user agent string), the approximate country, and a hash of your IP address. The hash is computed with a secret key and shortened, so it cannot be turned back into the address; it lets us tell visits apart within a day and spot abuse, and nothing more. We do not store the IP address itself.
Clicks on vendor links
Vendor links go through our server so that we can count them. For each click we record the product, the vendor, the time, the page you came from, the same browser type and IP hash, and the channel (website, email alert, API or MCP). The link you are sent to carries an identifier of the product, never of you, so that the affiliate network can attribute a purchase to this site.
Preferences
The ladder remembers the model and quantization you picked in a cookie named aigear_ref for one year. It contains the model slug and the quant and no identifier.
Accounts
If you create an account we store your email address, your watch list and alert settings (products, price targets, time zone, digest hour), sign-in tokens (stored as hashes, valid for a short time and used once), a session cookie named aigear_session, the alerts we generated for you, and a log of the emails we sent you (type, time and delivery status) for 90 days. If you use an API key we store a hash of the key and request counts.
Product requests
If you use the "product not listed" form, we keep what you typed (the product, a link and a note, and your email address if you give one) together with the IP hash, for review and for twelve months after.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 (Google LLC) to count visits and to see which pages, referrers, countries and device types bring readers. For that, Google receives the page address, the referrer, coarse browser and device information, a random identifier kept in the _ga cookies, and your IP address, which Google uses to derive an approximate location and does not store. Google signals and advertising personalization are switched off, we share nothing with Google's advertising products, and the tag is not loaded at all when your browser sends the Global Privacy Control signal. You can also block it with Google's opt-out browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
What we do not collect
We take no payments and never ask for payment details. We collect no precise location, no advertising identifiers and no data from your device beyond what a browser sends with every request. No advertising or social-media scripts run on our pages; the one analytics script is described above.
3. How we use it
We use this information to run and secure the service, to see which pages and products are used (in aggregate), to attribute commissions to the vendor links you clicked, to send the alerts you asked for, to answer your messages, and to meet legal obligations.
For visitors in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, the legal bases are our legitimate interests (operating, securing and measuring the service, and attributing commissions), the contract with you (accounts and alerts), and consent where the law requires it. Our cookies are strictly necessary or functional, so we do not show a consent banner.
4. Who else sees it
- Hosting. The service runs on a server we operate in the United States.
- Email delivery. Sign-in links and alerts are sent through Mailgun (Sinch), which processes your email address and the content of those emails on our behalf.
- Analytics. Google LLC processes visit data for us through Google Analytics 4 under Google's data processing terms, as described in section 2.
- Vendors and affiliate networks. When you click a vendor link, your browser contacts the vendor directly. Amazon (Amazon Associates), eBay (eBay Partner Network) and Newegg (through Rakuten Advertising) receive the request with our affiliate identifier and set their own cookies to attribute a purchase to us, for a period they define (currently 24 hours for Amazon and eBay). From that point their privacy policies apply: Amazon, eBay, Rakuten Advertising.
- Law and successors. We disclose information when the law requires it, and it may transfer to a successor if the service changes hands, under this policy.
We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We honor the Global Privacy Control signal: when your browser sends it, the analytics tag does not load and nothing about your visit reaches Google.

6. How long we keep it
- Visit and click records: 13 months, then deleted; aggregate counts without personal data are kept.
- Sign-in tokens: until used or expired, deleted within a day.
- Email delivery log: 90 days.
- Product requests: twelve months after review.
- Account data: until you delete your account. Deleting it removes your watches, sessions, alert history and API keys. We keep your address on an unsubscribe list so that we do not email you again, unless you ask us to remove that too.
- Backups: rotated within 30 days.
7. Your rights
You can ask us to tell you what we hold about you, correct it, delete it, give you a copy, or stop a particular use. Account holders can change or delete most of it directly in account settings. For everything else email support@buyaigear.com; we verify requests through the email address on the account and answer within 30 days.
If you live in California, the CCPA gives you the rights to know, delete and correct, and to opt out of sale or sharing. We do not sell or share personal information, and we do not treat you differently for exercising your rights. If you live in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, you also have the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests and to complain to your data protection authority.
8. Security
Connections are encrypted with TLS. There are no passwords to leak, IP addresses are stored only as keyed hashes, and access to the server is limited to the people who run it. If a breach ever affects your data we will tell you as the law requires.
9. Children
The service is not directed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has created an account, email support@buyaigear.com and we will delete it.
10. International visitors
The service is hosted in the United States. If you use it from elsewhere, your information is processed in the United States under this policy.
11. Changes
When this policy changes we update the date at the top. For changes that affect account holders we send an email before they take effect.
